Last night, I had the honor to present the “Culpwrit” award for outstanding student mentor to Trent Ostrom, a senior at the University of Nebraska, Omaha.

Trent is described by his peers and faculty adviser as “a role model” in helping others succeed. Besides serving as an account executive at the student-run agency, MaverickPR, Trent is employed as an e-learing designer at Valmont Industries. He is active in the UNO PRSSA chapter where he has helped dramatically increase and engage membership.

I look forward to meeting future winners of the mentorship scholarship, which annually recognizes a PRSSA member who has helped others in their career development. The future of our profession depends on unselfish commitment to the success of others. Young mentors are nominated by their peers and faculty advisers, and they are selected by a panel of professionals–not me. I simply get the chance to recognize some incredibly dedicated and talented young professionals.

Congratulations, Trent.
