Don’t Miss Holiday Networking Opportunities

Q.  I’ve been seeking a job for the past seven months, and friends tell me nothing happens during the holidays so I’m thinking of taking a vacation to visit my parents in Florida.  When is a good time to start up my job search again?  -TF

A.  While this is a great time to visit Florida, it’s also one of the best times to prospect for a new job.  Besides professional conferences, holidays offer some of the year’s best networking opportunities.  Busy executives also tend to have a bit more free time during the five weeks between Thanksgiving and New Years, so requests for informational interviews are more readily accepted.  Seek out and attend holiday parties of your favorite civic and nonprofit organizations, and be sure to attend family and neighborhood social events where you could meet “someone who knows someone.”
